PLACES TO EAT
BIBO By Dani García
Dani García’s restaurants are always a great experience, whichever you choose, Lobito de Mar, BIBO, and of course Puente Romano in Marbella is a fantastic selection.
It is curious that, after receiving his third- star Michelin, he decided to give one more year of life to this restaurant, which closed its doors in a few weeks.
The good news is that BIBO, the one in Madrid, will continue with some of my favorite plates: Gazpacho de Cereza and Burger Bull. Some plates that I recommend you try, if you decide to visit this restaurant, together with some tuna dishes, which always are a must.
That is all, I just want to share a special place to visit and to delight the palate, dinner, lunch or even branch on Sundays.
Highly recommended experience
A walk through La Rioja with Juan Carlos Ferrando
I want to share with you one of the great experience of this Christmas Time, in this new restaurant called Juan Carlos Ferrando, where fantastic food and perfect environment is guaranteed.
They have 2 different menus, one based in fish, and the other one based in the earth where this special restaurant is located: La Rioja, small area in the North of Spain, highly recommended not only for the wine, but also for the quality of the food. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to try its cuisine, where vegetables and fruits are a delicious, plenty of taste and one hundred percent natural.
I tried the menu based on typical products from La Rioja, I am not going to explain you each dish of the menu as they will change for each season depending of seasonal crop. I just only want to recommend you go there and try. You won´t regret!
Nimú Barquillo
Nimú Barquillo, this restaurant is going to be the restaurant of the month. Food is really nice and tasty, environment is very warm and price is more than correct.
I want to share it with you, and this is because it is not only a great place for dinning, it is also a nice restaurant for having a beer, or even for a coffee or tea in the afternoon.
The menu is offering a wide assortment which is able for every taste. Chipiron croquettes, Russian salad, Tuna tartar or Carpaccio with tomato and other great delicatessen.
However, what I recommend you are nigiri, you must try them! Nigiri with quail egg, truffle and soya sauce is really fabulous; and the one with garlic shrimps is really succulent bite… highly recommend.
Regarding desserts, there are a sweet and original one, fried chocolate, it is about some small fried chocolate balls… they are really delicious!!
So, Nimú Barquillo is a great place where you can spend a nice time and taste succulent dishes.
Navaja
Navaja is the name of this cute restaurant has been a great discover, without any doubt it is a place to go!
Located in the famous quarter of Malasaña, it is a very warm retro style restaurant, with all type of details. Waitress are really kind, and they will help you to have a really nice experience, you will not be disappointed
A mix cuisine between Galician and Peruvian with some Nikkei trace, they do not do reservations, so you should risk going there and wait for a table, but it is worthwhile.
The menu is small, but more than enough. I have been there several times there, and I still have not try all the plates I would like to, as there are some dishes I cannot help repeating each time. Such us Ortiguillas with Kimchi, very special texture and flavors in your mouth. (picture 1)
My favorite dish is Crab Bun with piper mayonnaise. They cook with the full crab with shell included, it is amazing! And this is my stronger recommendation. (picture 2)
If you want to finish with something sweet, you can try their Tom Pay, as they make in a really particular way, mixing the typical galician filloa with cream and adding some light flavor to pineapple and pisco. It is not too sweet, but it is quite special. (picture 3)
You will not regret to try!
Lobito de Mar
Lobito de Mar, the new Dani García’s restaurant in Marbella. It has been opened 2 months ago. I love his cooking, so it was a must-visit for me. I share it with you, as I recommend this great experience.
First of all, if you love tuna this is a perfect place, you can see the menu, with 9 different tuna dishes in very different styles. I tried the tuna tartar with olive oil. Easy to define, it was totally remarkable!!
Something really typical is Crushed Russian Salad with Prawns and Olives, high intensity flavor and very special texture in the month, if you are Russian Salad lover you need to try it.
Another great dishes to try are molluscs. I tried was Grilled razor shells and Clamshell a la plancha. They were a great election.
Related to paellas, we chose Lobster thick rice with tomato and onions. It was right, however I would not choose it again. In addition, it was one of the things that increase the ticket.
Finally, for desert, we chose Egg flan which wanted to be tocino de cielo. It was amazing, taking into account I am not deserts lover and Flan never is on my list. But I have to say it was something to try.
I hope this small summary can be useful, if you decide to visit this wonderful restaurant, which is located in one of the most privilege Spanish coast areas.
Punto MX
I love Mexican restaurants in a reasonable manner, but things in life want me to dinner at Punto MX. I could not say “no” to one Star Michelin restaurant, which in addition, it is the only restaurant all across Europe where Mexican tortillas are handmade with the nixtamal process to create the tortilla mass, and where Mexican flavors are reinterpreting with excellence.
It was a great experience highly recommended if you are Mexican food fan. I loved this experience for a couple of reasons.
Initially, they make you feel like in Mexico. Dishes elaboration and tortillas smell is so authentic, it seems you are in Mexican lands. In fact, something really well achieved, that I would recommend you, it is their guacamole, I was fascinated. They prepare this plate in front of you, and of course it tasted incredibly well.
Secondly, the fusion between typical Mexican dishes with some fishes or meats not really usual of its cuisine, such as Almadraba tuna taco with Serrano chili sauce and green lemon… wordless!!!
Related to drinks, of course dishes blend perfectly with “margarita”, they have several different combinations in the menu. It is important to highlight they have the first MezclaLab in Spain. They can help you to choose the best drink for your dishes selection.
Finally something curious and funny to add; once you have selected your dinner plates, they print for you your own menu. On the basis of the above, if you are a Mexican food fan, you cannot miss this authentic and special place.
